“Create Your District” Competition 2024 Story Map Training Workshop
Story Map Training Workshop was successfully held from 22 to 24 July at Geospatial Lab HK. Participating students and teachers had a great time learning to create story maps together, and they're now well-prepared for the competition.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Geospatial Lab HK for their unwavering support, as well as to Esri China (Hong Kong), the technical partner of the Competition who provided invaluable assistance in organizing the Story Map Training Workshop.

Competition Workshop & Guided Tour was successfully held on 13 July. Sr LEUNG Chi Tim, Robin, Senior Vice-President of the HKIS and Chairman of the Competition Organising Committee, Mr Peter WONG, Director (Building Rehabilitation) of Urban Renewal Authority, Mr Lawrence MAK, Director (Planning and Design) of Urban Renewal Authority, Sr Louis LEE, General Manager (Building Rehabilitation) of Urban Renewal Authority attended the Competition Workshop to share their views on planning To Kwa Wan with participating students and highlighted the important role that surveyors play in urban planning, conservation and revitalisation.
As our Competition Strategic Partner, Urban Renewal Authority shared not only the extensive history of To Kwa Wan, but also the planning of ongoing projects, including land-use planning and building renewal and revitalisation strategies for the area with participating students. Later, Sr LEUNG Chi Tim, Robin joined the Guided Tour with 170 participating students and teachers, and visited various places in To Kwa Wan, including the 13 Streets which all 13 streets are named after animal that symbolise good luck and fortune; 5 Streets which are under the Ming Lun Street/Ma Tau Kok Road Development Scheme (KC-018) for future redevelopment; Ma Tau Kok Plant which is one of the most iconic landmarks in To Kwa Wan; Cattle Depot Artist Village which has been declared as Grade II historic buildings and Kowloon City Ferry Pier with a long history of over 60 years. The tour provides a multidimensional introduction to the economic and social status, geographic, land, and ecological resource advantages of the region. It goes a long way towards exploring the possibility of combining the characteristics of the historic Kowloon area and the modern Kai Tak development area.
